Language learning inevitably brings culture into the EFL class. On November 30th Center 3 had a thematic lesson for one of the main holidays in US culture — Thanksgiving Day.
The students learnt the history and customs of this festival and had fun playing Thanksgiving games, making Native Americans’ headsets, having Thanksgiving meals, shooting a bow and arrow like Native Americans used to do. Finally, the students were encouraged to express what they are thankful for — that’s what they wrote on the Thankful Turkey feathers.
All in all, it was a wonderful time to teach the kids American culture and the concept of gratitude — a value that has no cultural borders.
