Queen’s Kingdom Jeopardy

27.02.2017

The students of the 7th Center took part in the cross-cultural quiz called «Queen’s Kingdom Jeopardy» on Friday, February the 17th. The Queen of the Queens herself attended this royal event and with the assistance of the Prime Minister and Scotland Yard officers hosted a wonderful Jeopardy. The students as the peers of five English families (the Dukes, the Marquises, the Earls, the Viscounts and the Barons) competed against each other in order to get the main prize. The quiz consisted of five categories: London, Scotland, Ireland, Food and Drinks, Kings and Queens. The questions of the game were based on the books about the United Kingdom the students had read in advance. During the quiz the peers not only checked their outlook but also gained new knowledge. Thus, the game was not only engaging but also had a learning point. The winners of the quiz, the Viscounts, were dubbed of the Knights of Golden Section and awarded with authentic prizes.

Today we had a nice activity — quiz about Great Britain. We learnt that British Prime Minister lives on 10 Downing Street. We also learnt that a traditional Scottish dish is haggis. The hardest question for me was the one about the oldest college in Ireland — it is, as we now know, Trinity College. One more cool thing about the quiz is that our teachers had different roles, and we had the Queen of the Quiz.

Well, I enjoyed the game in general. However, some questions were a bit hard for me, but that is totally my fault. I liked the complications anyway, but I definitely disliked the slowness while thinking of the answers.

It was captivating, and I’ve learnt a lot of new information. I liked almost everything and especially my team. These guys are super cool!

Today we had a great game during our English lesson. We learnt that the statue of Peter Pen can be found in Kensington Gardens. I enjoyed the ceremony when the winning team became the knights of the Golden Section. Thanks, English teachers!

I liked two unusual lessons because our teachers just mixed English and History! We learned a lot of interesting facts. I don’t think I would like to change anything because the game was created very well.

On Friday we had an amazing game that was held by our English teachers. The theme was «The Queen’s Kingdom». Although my team got the 4th place, I learned a lot. For example, did you know that Elizabeth I didn’t have any kids? Also, I liked the question about the Yorkshire pudding — it’s one of the national desserts in the UK. All in all, it was an amazing experience.
