What is Team Spirit Day? If you ask our students from Center 2, they will tell you: Team Spirit Day is a very special event that allows you to cheer for your teammates, play, have fun and you get to do it all ... in English! That’s just what these students experienced on October 22nd when they celebrated Team Spirit Day organized by our wonderful English Language Department and Center 2 curators. Our teachers put together a day full of amazing surprises, exciting games and, most importantly, great opportunities for learning English!
Fun started way ahead of the lesson, when students were divided into five colorful teams: red, orange, yellow, green, and blue. Students wore bracelets to indicate their team colors. When students entered the gym, they picked a team name and were handed out a map of all the activities they had to complete in the next forty minutes. In the course of the day students enjoyed playing Scrabble, Vocabulary Memory Match, Twister, Sentence Dominoes, and a very special clock game. Points were awarded for every round. Students had an opportunity to earn extra points for working well as a team and following the rules.
All the students were working extremely hard, so every single team won a special Team Spirit Award. The overall champions were Team Red. They clearly demonstrated their superior knowledge of English and won a trophy for their unprecedented efforts in supporting each other as a team. Even though there was only one trophy, all students learned a few valuable lessons: you can accomplish more in a team and learning English can be fun!
