Year 9 students had a chance to try themselves as speakers at our school TED Talks event, which was a perfect chance to demonstrate their speaking and critical thinking skills.
Every participant made an inspirational and informative talk to spark conversation about ideas and encourage their peers to think about important issues. Most of the topics were devoted to mental and physical health maintenance, modern technology, art and science.
The winners were:
The Best Solo performance — Liza Zakharova with «Social media: are your feelings being used?»
The Best Group performance — Sasha Danilicheva and Nastya Byvsheva «How to promote the urge to go to the theatre».
And Sophie Shpileva received the Audience Award with her speech «Facts about film making».
Congratulations!
After the conference, the students shared their impressions and talked about what they had learned during the preparation process for the event. The TED Talks event brought together students with different interests, taught them to listen to others, and express their own opinions. Great job!
We would like to thank the English language teachers who prepared our students for their presentations.
